Cruise Shore Excursions

Long before the first Europeans arrived in the Bay of Plenty, Maori were drawn to this area by its easy access to the coast and its “fruit bowl” qualities. With a mild climate year-round, it enables produce such as kiwifruit and citrus to prosper. The region’s legendary beaches attract swimmers, surfers, families and beachcombers throughout the year.

The original tourist destination in New Zealand where in the 1800’s, Europeans would set sail and make the journey to and then inland to Rotorua to view the marvellous Pink and White terraces, natural terraces that cascaded down the slopes of the volcano, Mount Tarawera, and were regarded as one of the wonders of the world. Today Cruise Passengers follow these footsteps to who come to marvel at the geothermal wonders of the district, meet and be entertained by the local Maori population and take part in the numerous outdoor adventure activities that the resort city is known for.
